OK, that’s probably not strictly true, but we were on a mission – to review as much “fake meat” as we could.
Our friends at VBites sent us a huge box of goodies from their plant-based range of foods, including their diary-free mozzarella, meat-free meatballs, meat-free lamb-style doner kebab slices, meat-free Southern Fried “chicken” burger, and meat-free hot dogs.
We started our taste test by slicing up some dairy-free mozzarella, and served it up with some tomato slices, basil leaves and a balsamic dressing. Watch the video review below.
Meat-free meatballs were next on the menu. We made a really quick and easy tomato sauce, then baked the meatballs in a hot oven for 12 minutes. Want to make the sauce yourself? Check out this easy recipe video we made, then watch our meatballs review.
Vegan treats just kept on coming! Up next was a toasted pitta, filled with the VBites meat-free lamb-style doner kebab slices. We filled the pittas with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, red onion and vegan mayo. Watch the video review below.
Next we fried the VBites meat-free Southern Fried “chicken” burger, and served it in a bun with lettuce, tomato slices and vegan mayo.
It had been a long day for Polly and by now her tiredness had resulted in her playing with her food. That’s not to say she didn’t enjoy eating it once she’d waved it in Phil’s face.
